Itinerary

(7 days, 6 nights starting in Bangkok and finishing in Siem Reap.)

Day 1 : Bangkok – Soi Dao 25 km [L,D]
Meet in Bangkok and transfer to Soi Dao on the Thai border. Optional afternoon ride in the area surrounding the resort.

Day 2 : Soi Sao – Pailin 40 km [B,L,D]
Ride to the Cambodia border on a paved road that winds through scenic hills. After passing through immigration, ride on dirt roads to the through the heart of rural Cambodia to Pailin, home to many former Khmer Rouge leaders.

Day 3 : Pailin – Battembang 85 Km [B,L,D]
Ride north west to Battembang along sometimes bumpy, dirt roads, passing through small villages and rice fields. This is a tough day that shows you the true Cambodia that few tourists ever see.

Day 4 : Battambang – Siem Reap [B, L, D]
Cross the Tonle Sap by boat towards the lost city of Angkor at Siem Reap, cruising past floating villages and sunken forests. Beautiful, watery scenery.

Day 5 : Siem Reap 42 km [B,L]
Ride “Grand Circuit” visiting Angkor Wat in the morning then the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom, the overgrown temple of Ta Prom and a host of lesser temples.

Day 6 : Siem Reap 50 km [B,L,D]
Ride to rarely visited temples following roads that loop back to Siem Reap via Phnom Koulen Mountains and Bantey Srei. Lunch at a local restaurant near Bantey Srei. Follow quiet dirt roads away from tourists passing many rural communities. Dinner at the New Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC).

Day 7 : Siem Reap 40 km [B,L]
Ride to the Tonle Sap Lake. Take short cruise through floating villages, taking lunch in once of them. On the return ride, stop at the workshops of Artisans d’Angkor (wood and stone carving). AND/OR visit the Landmine Museum of Mr. Aki Ra. Return to your hotel or transfer to the airport for the end of the tour. (The visit to the floating village will depend on water levels in the Tonle Sap lake)

Road Surface: This tour follows a mix of good asphalt roads and vehicle-width hard packed dirt roads.
Support: Minibus support through out whole journey.
Group Size: Minimum 4. Maximum 16.
Staff: Cycling leader (Thai), plus English-speaking Cambodian guide, drivers and assistants. For groups of ten or more a Cambodian bike guide also joins.
Accommodation: 3-star hotels, all with en suite facilities. Whenever possible we try to use hotels with charm and local character.
Food: Breakfast in the hotels, other meals at local restaurants
