Goroka Cultural Show
SE Asia Culture
The cultural diversity of Southeast Asia remains staggering. On a visit to any one of these countries you can discover everything from highly developed, artisan societies descended from ancient civilisations -- such as the Srivijaya (c. 650 AD) or Angkor (c. 800 AD) Empires -- to jungle nomads still dressed in loincloths and penis gourds, toting bows and arrows, spears and blowpipes.
Upper Mekong River JourneyCycling Sulawesi
Cruise the Upper Mekong River between the historic ancient capital of Luang Prabang, a World Heritage site, and Houei Xay, located on the border at the northernmost point of Thailand, near to the infamous Golden Triangle.
The Indonesian island of Sulawesi is ideal for adventurous cyclists: this is for riders who want the physical challenge of tropical mountains, who are looking for cultural adventure in a traditional Asian society off the beaten track, and who view the unpredictability of travel in a developing country as something to be expected and enjoyed.
Held in September every year, the Goroka Show is famous for its dazzling array of singing groups, showcasing some of the many cultures of Papua New Guinea
The Mekong Explorer is a sample bike, boat and kayak adventure following the mighty Mekong River from southern Laos into northern Cambodia, including the ancient World heritage site of Wat Phu, the 4,000 Islands, where the Mekong is at it widest, and the Ramsar flooded forests in Cambodia's Stoeung Treng (Stung Treng) Province.
