Onong Resort, just completely renewed, is located on the tiny island of Siladen in the Bunaken Marine Park, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It has become a base for Marine research as well as being a perfect place for those who are looking for a remote getaway with excellent diving.

Siladen is the smallest and prettiest island in the National Park, with white coral sand beaches, deep blue sea facing the cottages, and a teeming house reef within a few fin kicks from the shore. All other dive sites are within 1 and 20 minutes by boat.

Onong Resort comprises 7 wooden cottages, designed and built respecting both the environment and local architecture. All cottages are appointed to European standard with private bathroom, running freshwater, hot shower, ceiling fan and air conditioning... though really not necessary thanks to the island's constant breeze.

There are 2 different styles of cottage: Standard and Superior. Superior cottages are located on the beachfront, and are large with two big windows facing towards the swimming pool and the Bunaken Marine Park.

The restaurant offers a choice of traditional Indonesian cooking, Italian and international recipes A recreation area has been added for guests' entertainment, including TV and billiard table.

Siladen's southern reef, starting right in front of Onong resort, has one the highest diversities in the Bunaken Marine Park - an unbelievable mixing pot of different fauna. The current changes direction every 30-45 minutes which allows for the diffusion of benthic animals larvae without dispersion in the Ocean.

Next to Onong Resort, the first Italian run Marine Biology Laboratory - unique in the whole area - has recently opened; it was born from a cooperation programme between three Universities and Celebes Divers. The Lab is a center for international studies on the biodiversity of this area and its management.

Onong Resort is ideal for anyone who enjoys nature and remote tranquility as well as for divers. For divers, however, this is as close as you can get to the best dive sites of Bunaken, allowing for unlimited non-deconression diving.

Celebes Divers, the owners of Onong, also have a second resort, Mapia Resort, located on the mainland, 20 minutes south of Manado.
